Kids Friendly Rock Day 2 Years, 10 Months ago Karma: 0
Hi all,

Thanks goes to David Roe for setting up this kids friendly discussion forum.
My note in the climbing section garnerd 6 replies of interested Dads (and I'll include Mom's too!), and that's really encouraging for me to see that kind of interest.

Experience will have to be a basis for our event choices (i.e. Where do we go, How long do we plan for etc.).

I'm going to suggest a first day out for us a group will be Wasootch as it has much going for it: short approach/retreat, short climbs, little exposure, many shade options, good open valley for diversionary explorations. We could include an overnight camping if people would like to continue, lets get some feedback on that.

Let me know what your ideas are and we'll also have to look at dates.

Gear selection is simple, but as the club does not have anything kid sized, we'll all have to provide appropriate harnesses. It is possible for me to arrange some sort of MEC group rental if we need to.
Minimum gear:
Harness for each particpant, appropriately sized.
    Helmet for each particpant
1 Belay device and locking biner per parent
Shoes for climbing in (I'm not saying you need to go out and buy rock shoes, but they're nice to have).
    sunscreen, bug juice
    lunch, snacks, water/drinks
First Aid kit (I'll bring a big one)
Jacket/Fleece to keep warm in between climbs
    Rain Gear, as always
Tarp (if you have one, to set up a temporary shelter in the trees).

Hope this is a great start...let me know of your ideas.

Cheers,
Peter

Hi,
Wasootch sounds great. We are pretty flexible on times.
I'd also like to offer my help if your looking to spread out some of the work.

Thanks,
Jason, Ben, and Ryan

I agree, Wasootch is the best venue to start. Sounds like a great idea. Thanks Peter!

What about also seeing if we can get a group of families together to join the annual Skaha Thanksgiving trip....

Hi all,
Apologies to everyone that we didn't actually get this event off the ground this summer, as I was out my mind busy with many things.
We'll have to try again for next season. However, if there are parents interested in getting their gangs out on ice, we could look to making that happen....(crossing fingers and bringing lots of Hot Chocolate).
Cheers,
Peter
