Travel is always a great treat: but in this case, even greater! Climbing long sun lit limestone multi pitches of El-Potrero Chico in Mexico – who can resist that?
On an early grey Saturday morning six ACC adventurers met at the airport for a day long journey to famous destination of El Potrero Chico, famous recreational area of over 600 sport climbing routes that average to 20 pitches! Located near the small village of Hidalgo, Potrero Chico (little corral) attracts masses of sun seeking climbers thanks to its 5 minutes approach, all-year climbing and excellent newly bolted routes of all grades and varieties:-)
Snakes, jugs, cacti, and palm trees were part of the deal. As well as tacos, roasted pork for american thanksgiving, and feeling at times super hot (and scared). What a cocktail!

Not only we enjoyed climbing together, but the trip was a great bonding opportunity to laugh, drink, disagree and know each other a little better. Throughout our rather short one week stay, we have experienced amazing hospitality from locals (free dinner cooked as we got down from multipitch, exhausted) ; a ride in a trunk of a car (!) to buy groceries (thanks to our spanish speaking brave climber Catalina), fantastic dinner cooked by Josh and Lida; rope rescue course in shorts and skirts organized by Mike in the backyard of our pousada,
and an amazing lead of 5.10C route (that felt more like 5.11b for me) that had nothing but the single thin crack on a slabby wall…
We all left for home braver, humbler and even more in love with rock climbing than ever!
