Program Assistant (Part-time)

Rate:  $20 / hour for an average of 20 hours per month.

Start:  Immediately

Weekly Hours:  The Program Assistant will be responsible for managing workloads and hours to not exceed an average of 5 hours per week.   The workload will vary weekly and can be planned in advance. 

Responsibilities:

  • Assist Board committees with program and trip coordination including, but not limited to:
      • Forward planning and booking of Huts, ensuring all relevant Chairs and trip leaders are kept informed of bookings 
      • Draft program and trip descriptions for the Event Calendar (for the Alpine Mentorship Program(AMP) and other larger events)
      • Manage program rosters and ensure due payment by registered guests (for AMP and other larger events)
      • Facilitate communications between the committee, trip leaders, and registered participants
      • AMP Program management
      • Forward planning and organization for Ice, Powder, Rock, and Alpine review
      • Google drive administration
      • PayPal button generation
      • Work with communications to promote events
      • Monitor status of events 
      • Provide administrative support to committees.
  • Provide general administrative support to the Board, on an ad hoc basis
  • Attend Board meetings
  • Ensure National Leader Roster is kept up to date, leader trip points are up to date, and Section leaders are notified of all leader deals
  • Grant writing
  • Source gift donations for volunteer party and also prizes for the Reviews
  • Investigate sponsor deals for the Section
  • Review web content

Qualifications:   

  • Strong computer skills including MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook), experience in WordPress an asset
  • Excellent writing and communication skills
  • Experience working with Google Drive and online platforms such as Survey Monkey
  • Strong administration and organization skills
  • Ability to work independently and be self-motivated.  Set own schedule and work plan to meet requirements and budget limitations 
  • Ability to problem solve
  • Exceptional attention to detail 
  • A good understanding and appreciation for the Alpine Club of Canada, Calgary Section’s goals, objectives and courses
  • A keen understanding of outdoor recreation sports as they relate to the Section’s activities

Required:

  • A standing ACC Calgary Section membership
