Josh Pelland Badly Injured in Climbing Accident

Many ACC Calgary Section members are friends with, or know of, Josh Pelland (affectionately known to some as the Troll of Kananaskis).

Details are still scarce, but Josh had a bad fall out in Squamish and is currently in the hospital.

Josh’s injuries were enough that one of the docs said that most people in that state die in the helicopter. The list of injuries is brutal – fractured sternum, shattered legs, broken scapula and badly broken back – Josh is expected to be permanently paralyzed from the waist down. Despite everything, he’s apparently in good spirits and petitioning for sponge baths.

Some of Josh’s friends have started a fundraiser to help with both medical expenses and to support his family who have traveled to Vancouver to be there with him until he can be transported back to Calgary.
